Wilson feels it at Ohio St.
Living in the shadows of The Horseshoe, junior wide receiver Cameron Wilson already knew plenty about the Ohio State football program, even before he attended the Buckeyes 36-24 win over Miami in week 2 of the 2010 season.
But, the 6-foot-2, 190-pounder from Jerome High School in Dublin was still impressed with what he saw at field level prior to the game.
"It was awesome," he said of standing on the turf during pre-game warm-ups. "You could feel the energy and it was also cool to see the size of some of the guys out there."
Wilson previously visited Ohio State during a Buckeyes spring practice session. But, his game-day visit offered a much different look at the OSU campus.
"I liked what I saw and the game was also pretty exciting," he said. "We had lunch in the recruits room and got to hear the athletics director speak and then we walked the sidelines and went through the tunnel."
In addition to visiting Ohio State, Wilson also has visited Michigan and Michigan State. The short trip to Columbus compared favorably.
"It was special because it's always been my hometown school," Wilson said.
Through seven games of the 2010 season, Wilson leads Central Ohio with 50 receptions for nearly 500 yards and three touchdowns. He's also added two rushing touchdowns.
Last fall, as a sophomore, Wilson caught 51 passes for 628 yards and six scores.
"I've improved my route running and I'm running stronger after the catch," he said.
Also a standout on the Jerome basketball squad, where he averaged 16 points and five rebounds per game, Wilson has drawn interest from major colleges across the country.
Boston College, Cincinnati, Iowa, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State and West Virginia are showing the most interest.
