After a 1-2 start with two tough road losses, the University of Tulsa has bounced back with two consecutive wins -- one coming on the road in conference. Granted, the two victories were against lesser competition, but the Golden Hurricane defense seems to have turned the corner in time for the run through conference play.
"I was really proud of our staff and team," said Tulsa head coach Todd Graham of last week's 48-7 win at Memphis. "I thought it was a really good weekend. Our guys probably played our best game of the year as far as all three phases of the football game. I think the key each week is to get better and I thought our guys really did that."
Under new offensive coordinator Chad Morris, Tulsa's offense has been consistent and once again is among the best in the country. TU ranks first in Conference USA and eighth nationally in total offense at 507.8 yards per game. That average dips just slightly to 484.7 on the road.
