TRENDS: Pass defense looking for a turnaround
Three years ago many Florida State fans thought the Seminoles' pass defense couldn't possibly get any worse and for good reason. In 2007, opponents averaged a school-record 254 passing yards a game.
In 2009, FSU's much-maligned defense actually gave up less, surrendering 230 passing yards per game (which doesn't look so bad when you consider the offense averaged 271 passing yards). But, dig a little deeper and you see why the pass defense was arguably the worst we've ever seen.
