Big day for Louisiana DT
Covington, La., defensive tackle Mickey Johnson woke up Monday morning with three scholarship offers.
But by the time the 6-foot-1, 310-pounder put his head back on the pillow that number had swelled to seven as Kansas, LSU, Ole Miss and Tennessee joined the mix.
"It came out like a blue moon," Johnson said. "I'm pretty excited about it. Hopefully I will get more and more attention. I was pretty excited hearing that I received those offers (yesterday). But I mean the feeling only lasts for about five minutes then it's back to the game plan which is hard work on and off the field."
Johnson had already earned early offers from Mississippi State, Tulane and Tulsa.
The St. Paul's standout likes what he has seen and heard from the Bulldogs but is not planning on rushing into a decision anytime soon.
"They have shown me the most love," Johnson said. "I'm definitely considering Mississippi State. It's a great school athletically and academically. I can see myself one day as a Bulldog and that goes for every school. Every school has a chance at getting me. I am going to focus on everyone because I am not committing to anyone until my senior year is over."
Johnson made a trip to Starkville to take in junior day at MSU along with his family and a couple of teammates.
