Gardner orchestrating something special
Inkster (Mich.) quarterback Devin Gardner stood on the field following his team's second straight defeat to start the season and knew his Vikings would need to win five of their last six games to qualify for the postseason.
Coming off a junior year in which he led Inkster to the state title game, Gardner badly wanted another shot at a state title before his prep career came to an end. Inkster, however, was facing a daunting schedule that featured zero home game, so the task would require something special from the 6-5, 220-pound senior quarterback and his teammates. Special, though, is something Gardner has become accustomed to providing.
